Moncton - As was reported yesterday the league held another press conference today to announce changes to the experience and leadership system. Instead of the usual experience and leadership players earn at the end of each season, players will only develop experience and leadership through international events such as the World Cup of Hockey and the Olympics and the annual All Star competitions.
Captains and assistant captains will be responsible for the increase and decrease of other players during the leagues annual random events. Instead of a player getting 1 D 4 across the board, it will now depend on how much a captain or assistant is rated. Details on this system have yet to be determined, but it is expected that this will be done by the next GM meeting in October.
The reason for the changes are to eliminate situations where players are advanced too early in their careers to be captains and assistants, and also the higher experience and leadership they have over inflate their overall rating. These changes again will hopefully in time give more incentive to keep older experienced players playing in the pro league. |
