Brisebois Inks Big Extention
Posted: 9/19/2004 By Charlie Conway
Bathurst - It's offical the Titan have signed the teams biggest free agent to a 5 year contract extension tho the terms of the deal we not disclosed it is believed that the deal was worth 20 million dollar working out to 4 million a season. The deal is also believed to included enough cash to purchase a nice new house and car to settle him down in Bathurst. The 25 year old defenceman currently has 7 goals and 32 assists in 75 games along with a team leading plus 23 +/-. Brisebois is currently the teams assistant captain and it is believed that team captian Stephane Richer will pass on the "C" during the offseason. When asked about the signing Sullivan said "We are pleased to have signed him so easily he wanted to stay with us and we wanted him to stay here so things went perty quick we gave him what we belive is a fair amount of money for a staying as many teams are looking to cut cost. He is a leader by example and we couldn't ask for more from him." The only problem that we can see with this deal is that they didn't give him a no trade clause and with the way Sullivan likes to trade we wonder if Brisebois is going to be around for a long time. Brisebois relived the worries about the everything "We don't have a no trade clause per say but we have both agreed that if either of us want to see me leave we would sit down and discuss the whole situation. I'm currently happy being here and Mr. Sullivan knew that so he didn't waste anytime with contacts that were a joke." Now that Brisebois is signed the only position the team has left to sign is a center for next season as it seems that JR will not be resigning with the team or we may see either Black or Nieuwendyk traded during the offseason.
