With about 60 games played in this ASHL season, the trade deadline is fast approaching. The Shediac Smurfs have not hidden the fact that they have some veteran players that are ready to move on to new teams. These include LW David Volek, D Eric Weinrich, Dean Chynowetch and Teppo Numminen and G Peter Sidorkiewicz.
A more recent report is that the Smurfs are looking to deal one of their young LWs. Gino Odjick and Stephane Yelle both seem ready to take a spot as a fourth line winger. Odjick currently has the upper hand and already has 3 points in his first 3 games. With 5 LWs under the age of 24 vying for pro ice time, it makes sense for Shediac to use one of them as a bargaining chip. It is said the team is mostly looking for a comparable RW, but may consider players at other positions as well. |
