Well it wasn’t easy but the Moose have moved on. Not disappointing the Moose faithful, they scratched their way to a 7 game 4-3 series win over that damn pesky Pirate team. No team ever had an upper hand until the Moose showed their powerful offense in a deciding game 7 with an 11-3 win.

GM Swaikoski’s was delighted after the opening series win! “Hampton seemed to have our number all year long. Even though we had an amazing year we never were able to put them away. Thankfully we have some of the best leaders both on the ice and in the locker room! I’m proud of the perseverance and heart my team showed after being down 3-2. I have butterflies in anticipation of this next series!”

Mark Parrish sits on top of the leader board with an amazing first round! He tallied 5 goals and 6 assists while being a +6 over the first 7 games. 5 other players shared in the offensive prowess each scoring at least 1 point per game. Included in that group was Captain Keith Primeau. He continues his stellar playoff performance with 8 points and a +5 rating thus far. “We play all year for this! Why stop now, why not play balls out hockey! I am the luckiest Captain having a team like this assembled around me. I just hope I can lead them to the ultimate reward and that is The Stanley Cup. What we accomplished in the regular season was unbelievable and may never be duplicated but it will be all for not if we don’t win the Cup. I thank everyone in this great organization for all they have done and I will do everything in my power to bring that cup home to Iona!”

Next up is the Saint John Barbarians in the Conference Finals. The Iona Moose handled the Barbarians for the most part this year so hopefully they can continue that trend in this series. We can only hope! Some say this is the Cup Finals seeing as both teams have showed such dominance this year but who knows what kind of tole a series such as this will take out of the eventual winner??? All I know is that I can not wait to see the rest of these fine playoffs unfold!!!
