GM Remains “Cautiously Delusional”

Season Continues To Drift Into The Woods

By Trent Gallant

The Oromocto Senators organization has officially entered what experts are calling “the acceptance phase,” following another difficult stretch of hockey that has left fans frustrated, players exhausted, and General Manager Trent Gallant reportedly staring blankly at trade screens at 1:14 AM while whispering, “maybe next season.”

After another rough patch in Season 15 of the ODBHL, sources close to the organization confirm the Senators have begun exploring new motivational techniques including team bonding exercises, inspirational speeches, and turning the locker room Wi-Fi off until defensive coverage improves.

“It’s not panic mode,” Gallant told reporters while aggressively refreshing the standings page for the seventh consecutive time. “We’re evaluating things.”

League insiders confirmed “evaluating things” currently includes staring at Anthony Beauvillier’s contract situation until numbers begin appearing in dreams.

Beauvillier, expected to test free agency, reportedly thanked the organization for its support before politely placing several tropical vacation brochures inside his locker stall.

“Anthony has earned the right to explore options,” Gallant said diplomatically while allegedly Googling, ‘Can emotional damage count toward LTIR?’

Meanwhile, Cody Glass has quietly become one of the more interesting names around the league as the Rental Period slowly approaches.

Multiple anonymous executives around the ODBHL believe Glass could become valuable trade bait should Oromocto decide the season has transitioned from “playoff push” into “experimental archaeology project.”

One anonymous GM commented:

“Glass could help a contender. Also I heard Oromoctto—I mean Oromocto—might accept draft picks, prospects, or a functioning power play.”

The Senators denied the rumour.

Mostly because nobody asked them.

Despite the difficult season, there have still been bright spots.

Spencer Knight continues trying to keep the team alive nightly, despite developing what medical experts are calling “advanced goaltender exhaustion syndrome,” a condition caused by repeatedly watching defensive breakdowns occur directly in front of you.

Team trainers report Knight occasionally wakes up yelling “BACKDOOR COVERAGE” before immediately making a glove save against imaginary opponents.

Kent Johnson continues producing offence while carrying enough responsibility to qualify for partial ownership of the franchise.

Mason McTavish remains one of the few players still visibly attempting to drag the Senators uphill like a man attempting to move a refrigerator using only optimism.

Hendrix Lapierre, somehow still functioning after almost dying a few games ago. He must be held together by determination, tape, and whatever mysterious technology ODBHL doctors discovered behind a Tim Hortons dumpster, remains committed.

“Guys still believe,” Lapierre said.

Medical staff immediately placed him under observation for possible concussion symptoms.

League analysts have also begun questioning whether Oromocto should become buyers or sellers at the Rental Period.

Current projections suggest the Senators sit somewhere between “miracle run incoming” and “accidentally becoming sellers while trying to open the trade menu.”

Gallant remains publicly optimistic.

“We’re not quitting,” he said. “There’s lots of hockey left.”

Sources inside team headquarters confirm Gallant delivered the speech while standing beside three whiteboards labeled:

Fans have remained supportive despite recent struggles.

Attendance remains steady.

Mostly because several people forgot to cancel season tickets.

Others remain hopeful.

“I think we can turn it around,” said one fan wearing a Senators jersey and the facial expression of a man who has emotionally survived fourteen previous rebuilds.

Still, optimism exists.

The Senators remain only one hot streak away from relevance.

One good run.

One momentum swing.

One miraculous heater.

Or possibly eleven other teams forgetting how hockey works simultaneously.

Season 15 continues.

The Rental Period approaches.

Trade rumours grow louder.

And somewhere deep inside the Oromocto Senators front office, a tired GM opens the standings one more time.

Just to make sure.

Unfortunately, they had not changed since four minutes ago.
