The rebuilding Moose are off to a predicted terrible start to the season and the team are finding unknown enemy's everywhere they look.
The City of Miramichi has been quite vocal about the lack of team's payroll expenditure and the lack of big name additions to the roster and are starting to get frustrated with GM Ashton's "Trust the Process" rebuild plan. In the offseason the the teams only major additions were Charlie Coyle via free agency and the returning 1st ever draft pick John Gibson. Philip Broberg and Thomas Harley were promoted from the Woodstock Predators. The team decided not to lower the season ticket prices even though the fans fears are ringing true that the have an inferior team compared to most other teams in the league. What some fans have started doing is making the pilgrimage to Harcourt to watch the future of the franchise in the newly renovated The Cavern which can hold more fans than the Blackhorse Dome.
With it being winter and the roads not the best the team has also launched a website to update fans of road conditions to not put their Moose loving lives in danger.
Alas the team has also found itself in hot water with the league itself not over questionable actions taking place with the sacred ODBHL Cup but with the rebuild itself. After multiple meetings have taken place the league has instituted a league wide rule next year that there will be no 80 rated players on the farm teams. GM Ashton had the following arguments:
1) How in the blue hell can I fill a 17,000 stadium in the middle of Harcourt with names like Mukhamadullin , Hugo and Isak.
2) In Season 8 a 89 rated defenseman spent the majority of the season in San Diego
3) The city of Miramichi does not have sufficient amounts of gyms and bandwidths to accommodate all the younger players that will be coming and playing Call of Duty.
The Moose has accepted the rule change and have started preparing for next year. Byfield, Drysdale, Rossi , Velano and Hoglander and possible Barron are expected to be Moose next season.
The league have also asked GM Ashton what his intentions with the draft pick accumulation. With the restricting of PDC allocation the team will have to allocated based on these standards:
2) High Draft Picks still developing like Rosen and McTavish
3) Future leaders of the team like Rossi and Byfield
We can use the picks to leverage advantageous situations like in the case of a fire sale, accumulate prospects to trade for players we find are lacking in be it a defensive defenseman or a goalie. But main thing it to get the players we fell will be lifelong Moose players that bring us back to the promised ground. I feel like we have a great start to the foundation but must stay the course.
