Kaiden Guhle Inks Long Term Extension

By Jeff Nagle

Riverview - The hard-hitting 22-year-old defenseman Kaiden Guhle inked a 6-year, $25.2 million extension with an average annual cap hit of $4.2 million with the Riverview Royals. Guhle is the centerpiece of the Royal's rebuild and an anchor defenseman of their top four. Getting him signed to a long-term deal was the top priority of the team and now it has come to pass.

"Kaiden has come into his own this season and has become the hard-nosed player that we saw him be as a junior. This deal ensures that our salary cap moving forward will be healthy and that we can continue to pad talent around him for the length of the contract. I am a true believer of building from the backline out and Kaiden is by far the starting point of that defense core.

"I'm excited for what the future holds for him and our team as we move forward with our rebuild." said GM Nagle

Guhle is known for his physical prowess more than his offensive touch. However this season, on top of being in the conversation for the Scott Stevens trophy, he has also upped his offensive numbers and is nearing his career highs in points, goals and assists.

"I'm proud to pull on a Royals jersey everygame, and now I am excited that I'll get to do that for the next six years. Saying here was the only option for me as I couldn't see myself playing anywhere else. The fans are awesome here and the team is building up to be a contender for many years. I'm grateful to be a part of that." said Guhle of his signing.a
