The Riverview Royals made a couple of blockbuster deals fresh on the heals of the ODBHL Cup Final. In the two deals they acquired a couple of familiar faced superstar forwards in Isac Lundestrom and Joel Farabee. In exchange the Royals gave up a second round pick and prospects Bobby Carpenter, Fedor Svechkov, Brett Leason and Darius Kasparitis. A high price to pay for quality veteran talent, but a price that spells out that the Royals are getting out of the proverbial basement.
"We anticipate Dave and Luc to be top-six contributors this season, but for them to succeed, they need top-end veteran talent to play with. Both Isac and Joel give us that and more. They are both tremendous leaders and super skilled players and we feel that with their age, they will be able to lead our young guys for the foreseeable future.
"Setting our core young players for success is going to be the primary focus next year. Aside from Luc and Dave, we'll also have Roby Jarventie making his pro debut. Moving forward we'll also have more young guys coming up through our farm ranks and this all plays into the plan. Having established veterans to teach the Royal way is what we want to see, and with guys like Isac and Joel, we are setting up for a very exciting run starting next year." said GM Nagle.
