Royals make series of moves to shakeup roster

By Jeff Nagle

After four straight convincing losses, this morning the Riverview Royals have made a series of moves aimed at stabilizing the team with a focus on defense and speed.

In a surprise move, both Luc Robitaille and Dave Andreychuk were sent to Loggieville while forward Tyler Motte and defenseman Colton Parayko were recalled. Parayko and Motte are not expected to play much, and will be available on an "on-call" basis.

In addition to the roster moves, the Royals debuted new lines with Joel Farabee playing on his natural left wing, Robert Thomas playing on the right win with Travis Konecky promoted to the third line right wing. These moves give the Royals a strong top line of Lundestrom, Farabee and Thomas with a serviceable second line of Hayton, Robertson and Wiesblatt. The defensive pairs have remained relatively unchanged.

"We're hoping these changes will give us a more defensive look and help build some chemistry that we obviously have been lacking. Dave and Luc are better served playing top line minutes in Loggieville where they can make a big impact. It was always our plan to try them for five games in the pros and see where they fit. However, after this small sample size, it was clear that we weren't ready to have them up here just yet. I'd rather see them succeed in the minors than struggle here. That being said, I'm excited to see what Luc and Dave do in Loggieville the rest of the year."

The Royals will give their new look lineup its first major test tomorrow as they face the South Esk Scotsmen. Earlier this season (not far enough to forget) the defending champs throttled the Royals 11-1. Hopefully with a new look, and a new veteran goalie in net, the result will be at least a bit more positive.
